Odeceixe

South of the border between the Alentejo and the Algarve, on the coast, is the parish of Odeceixe, which has approximately 900 inhabitants. Odeceixe has a peculiar architecture, with narrow and steep streets. The windmill, the winery museum and the main church are interesting spots to visit. Odeceixe’s beach, three kilometers west of the village, is a place of natural beauty next to the mouth of the Seixe. The river, the sea and the cliffs provide a rich habitat for various species of animals. The beach, which is watched by lifeguards, has also won the 7 Wonders of Portugal award.
