Zambujeira do Mar

At the beginning of the 20th century only a few houses and fishermen's huts had been build in Zambujeira do Mar. However, the beauty of the place captivated inhabitants of nearby parishes and tourists. Nowadays, the village has approximately 900 inhabitants. However, in the summer the number of inhabitants increases considerably.

Zambujeira do Mar’s beach, winner of the 7 wonders of Portugal award, is located in the village that gives it its name, at the foot of a picturesque church. This beach is crowded during the bathing season. The small cove, which is flanked by steep cliffs, is a pearl of the Vicentine Coast.
The beaches of Alteirinhos and Nossa Senhora, which can be found to the south and north of Zambujeira do Mar respectively, are also very popular. They offer great conditions to relax: they are easy to find, have a gratifying landscape and offer an extensive beach.
